Five Key Answers

Financial Policies & Practices

Tuition and Fee Payment Schedule

Tuition and fees are listed in the course schedule for a given academic year. In principle, all tuition and fees charged for a given semester are due at the time of registration. Because of our commitment to making Christian education accessible, however, we use as a standard operating procedure a payment schedule that spreads out costs over eleven or twelve months. Tuition, for example, is normally paid in five roughly equal monthly installments each semester. Due dates for the various charges are published in the course schedule for a given academic year.

Refunds and Tuition and Fee Adjustments

Some charges are refundable in whole or in part. Others are not. Non-refundable charges include:

  • Entrance testing fees
  • Add-drop fees
  • Registration fees
  • Optional participation programs (e.g., after school care) once the charges are incurred

Students may drop a course or a study hall during the first full calendar week of classes and receive full tuition, course fee, and study hall fee refunds for that course or study hall. Following that time, tuition, course fees, and study hall supervision fees are refundable according to the following schedule:

  • 80% refund during the second full calendar week of classes
  • 70% refund during the third full calendar week of classes
  • 50% refund during the fourth full calendar week of classes
  • 25% refund during the fifth full calendar week of classes
  • No refunds after the fifth full calendar week of classes

This schedule applies both to individual courses dropped during the first five calendar weeks of classes and to complete withdrawal from the academy.

No refunds of athletic or other optional participation fees, partial or otherwise, may be given to students temporarily barred from participation in such activities due to academic or disciplinary problems.

All non-refundable charges represent an obligation to the academy if not paid. The academy reserves the right to withhold records or other information from any family failing to fulfill its financial obligations in a timely manner. Students are not permitted to graduate from the academy with an outstanding debt to the academy.

Variances to any of these refund policies may be granted by the board if such a variance is requested in writing and is based on extenuating circumstances. The board has full discretion to determine whether or not such a variance is granted.

Late Payments and Delinquent Accounts

Any student whose account is in arrears for more than one calendar month will not be allowed to attend classes until his account is brought up to date. Any student whose account is in arrears for more than 45 calendar days will be dropped from all classes. A late fee of 10% of the amount owed will be assessed for any account more than one calendar month overdue.

Accounts may be temporarily in arrears without penalty provided the family in question secures administrative approval for delayed payment prior to the date on which the affected student(s) would be barred from classes. This approval must be requested in writing using forms obtained from the school office.

If a family's account is chronically in arrears (meaning that it is repeatedly in arrears or that the family has failed to follow through with any arrangements that have been made for bringing the account up to date), other late penalties and / or counseling may be required for continuing enrollment.

No student may re-enroll unless the family's account is current or satisfactory arrangements for bringing the account up to date have been made.

The academy reserves the right to withhold records or other information from any family failing to fulfill its financial obligations in a timely manner. Students are not permitted to graduate from the academy with an outstanding debt to the academy.
